The Chrysler group has awarded a contract to TNT Logistics’ North American arm to transport partsand components to Toledo-based Kuka, a key supplier to the automobile conglomerate.
Using TNT’s Matrix propietary supply chain system, the Dutch group will manage over 250truckloads of parts a week and route all inbound freight to Kuka from suppliers around the US.
TNT Logistics’s president in North America, Steve Kowalkoski, said the Matrix system improvedtracking throughout the chain and allowed for in-time adjustments to suppliers’ operations.
The automobile industry had very little room for error in the supply chain and the “multi-year” contract would provide lead logistics services highly dependent on TNT technology, headded.
