European Commission clears Deutsche Post acquisition of Williams Lea

The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition ofsole control of British mail company Williams Lea by Deutsche Post. The EU executive did not find

any competitive reasons to hold up the transaction.
Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) announced last month that it will take a majority stake inWilliams Lea, which has annual revenues of £438 million (€650 million). The acquisition price wasnot disclosed but German media put the expected price for a 75 per cent stake at about €370million. The acquisition makes DPWN into one of the world’s largest full-service mail logisticscompanies.
