DHL has announced that construction began at its new Tainan Service Center in the fourth largestcity on Taiwan. The NT$56 million (€1.3 million) investment is part of DHL’s long-term NT$1 billion
investment on the island.DHL said that it needs a newer and bigger service centre to meet the growing customer demandsdue to the rapid expansion of businesses in the Tainan area. The two-storey Tainan Service Center,covering 1500 sqm, will be used as an operations centre handling about 2,000 shipments per day aswell for office space. It is expected to be completed in November this year.
Tainan, the ancient capital of Taiwan, is undergoing a fast-paced transition from traditionalmanufacturing to high-tech industries, and has two local Science Parks.
“The new service center is a sign that business has been growing fast in this area,” saidConnie Tang, General Manager DHL Express Taiwan. “Once the new facility opens, it will bringenhanced, more efficient and diverse express and logistics services to customers, helping themreach out to more global opportunities.”
The NT$56 million Tainan Service Center is part of DHL’s NT$1 billion Anchor InvestmentProgram, under which large-scale new service centres are being built across Taiwan to raise serviceefficiency and quality, as well as reduce transportation time to and from the internationalairport.
