TNT Post grows in UK with Ikea, Sainsbury’s accounts

TNT Post has won two major contracts with furniture store group Ikea and the major supermarketgroup Sainsbury’s to boost its growing business in the UK. The contracts come as TNT gears up to

launch its UK home delivery service for parcels.

Under a contract worth more £2 million, TNT Post will distribute Ikea catalogues tohouseholds across Britain as the sole distributor following a competitive tender. About 13.3million catalogues are due for distribution during August while a further 50 million additionalbrochures are planned to follow over the next year.

Ikea will use TNT’s Solus service which draws on the support of TNT Post’s Team Network, aunique national field force of 8,000 distributors, co-ordinated and directed by over 150 full-timeArea Managers. TNT has worked with IKEA since 1992, sharing the distribution of the catalogue withother suppliers.

We are excited to be taking on thisresponsibility and IKEA will benefit from maximum impact, flexibility and cost efficiency by usingour Solus service.”

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s largest supermarket chains, has signed a deal withTNT Post to handle around 20 million items of its mail in an effort to modernise its customerpostal communications. Sainsbury’s will use TNT Post to deliver most of its customer direct mail,through the Premier 48-hour service for pre-sorted mail, with Royal Mail continuing to carryout thefinal sort and delivery to customers’ homes nationwide.

Sainsbury’s spokeswoman, Nicola Sharpe, added: “We chose TNT Post based on highrecommendations, coupled with the range of mailing solutions they had to offer. We have beenparticularly impressed by TNT Post’s innovative and flexible services, and are confident our postalcommunications are in safe hands.”

Other TNT Post UK clients include Next, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, BSkyB, Telewest, CaudwellCommunications, n-power and Barclays.

TNT Post UK is due to launch its new British parcels home delivery service in Septemberfollowing the operational takeover of the JD Williams courier network, which is scheduled forAugust 28. This network already delivers some 12 million parcels and packets of existing businesscustomers per year to consumers in the UK.
