Hellenic Post (ELTA) will focus on regional partnerships in order to develop its internationalactivities, CEO Andreas Taprantzis said at the Post-Expo trade fair in Paris. Discussing postal
ownership issues at the World Postal Business Forum, he commented: “There are other ways thanbuying other firms or financial partnerships. We are trying to do alliances in the region.”Cooperation would focus on joint services or specific projects, he added.The Greek post office was in the middle of a major programme to improve its operationalefficiency and was also reviewing its strategy for a liberalised postal market, Taprantzis said.Under a 200 million euro modernisation programme, ELTA was investing 100 million euros alone inautomation technology to improve the operational quality of the mail service while 35 million euroswas being spent on modernising the post office network.
After many years of losses, ELTA has been in profit since 2001. It is targeting revenue growthto over 600 million euros in 2007 from 500 million euros in 2004.
