Siemens AG today presented a new proprietary development for “Packstation “, themachine-based parcel pick-up system from Deutsche Post World Net. With its development Siemens
becomes the second contractor for “Packstation”. Until now the parcel pick-up system has beenexclusively delivered by the Austrian Keba AG. Within this month a pilot project with theSiemens System will be implemented at Deutsche Post Packstations in Leipzig. The new Siemenstechnology with a futuristic design claims to be more user-friendly.Before signing the contract with Deutsche Post, Siemens has also been in negotiations withHermes to set up 10 “Packstations” each in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. For economical reasonsHermes decided not to launch this innovative product.
