MCAS wins 2 China contracts

Menzies Chengdu Airport Services (MCAS) has won two new handling contracts in Chengdu, China,awarded by China Postal Airlines and United Eagle Airlines (UEAir).

The rapidly growing Chinese freight airline, China Postal Airlines is the first scheduledfreighter operator to Chengdu, kicking off operations to the airport last month with six Boeing 737cargo flights a week. United Eagle Airlines, one of the first privately funded airlines in China,took delivery of its first aircraft on July 14th, when the Airbus A320 touched down in Chengdu onits delivery flight from France. The first commercial service will operate at the end of thismonth.

UEAir will ultimately base a fleet of up to 15 aircraft in Chengdu, initially providing domesticair services on the Chinese mainland for passengers and freight. MCAS is a joint venture providingpassenger, cargo and aircraft handling and maintenance services at Chengdu Shuangliu InternationalAirport in China. Situated in the west of Sichuan province, Chengdu opened to air traffic in 1987and was designated as an international gateway in 1993.
