GLS Spain now offers GDP-compliant shipping for products that do not require temperature control, with all its hubs and branches being certified by the German vehicle inspection association DEKRA.
The company sees the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry as one of the most important economic sectors in Spain, and the demand for its products is growing. However, customers demand certification in accordance with the European Directive on Good Distribution Practices (GDP) for pharmaceutical products to ensure a strictly controlled transport chain.

The new GLS Spain PharmaService not only complies with the strict European 2013/C 343/01 standard but offers even more advantages. Companies and individuals can receive their shipments within 10 or 14 hours. They also have the option to confirm delivery of the shipment digitally on their own mobile device through the ContactlessSign solution.
GLS Spain delivers shipments only to the person indicated by the sender and excludes alternative delivery, such as to a neighbour or to a ParcelShop. In addition, the status of the shipment can be followed online in real time from the time the package is collected to the sender until it is delivered.
To obtain the GDP certification, the parcel service provider adjusted the operating procedures required in its own centres. For instance, cleaning in GLS’s 33 hubs and delegations was expanded and further standardized for all vehicles and staff. Furthermore, GLS Spain expanded the training system for all staff, for the more than 460 agencies, for transport partners and their distributors.
GLS already has GDP certifications in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France and Ireland. The GLS Group’s quality and environmental management system is also certified throughout Europe in accordance with internationally recognized ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
