Estonian postal group Omniva has sacked CEO and Management Board Chairman Joona Saluveer over diverging views of the group’s future strategy. Ansi Arumeel, currently a Member of the Board, will carry out the duties of the Chairman until the new Chairman is appointed in the autumn.
The company said that at its meeting on 21 May the Supervisory Board of Omniva (AS Eesti Post) decided to dismiss Saluveer, whose contract ran out on 31 May 2018.
“The Supervisory Board has dismissed Joona Saluveer from the position of the Chairman of the Management Board due to diverging visions as to the future strategy for the company,” stated Bo Henriksson, Chairman of Omniva’s Supervisory Board. “Common understanding and smooth collaboration, however, are very important now, since Omniva has ahead of it the management of several changes and the implementation of major projects in order to keep up with the rapid development of the sector.”
He added: “We would like to thank Joona for his contribution to the development of the company both as Chairman of the Management Board and in building up Omniva’s Lithuanian and Latvian subsidiaries previously.”
An open competition, to be announced this autumn, will be held to fill the position of the Chairman of the Management Board. In the interim, the duties of the Chairman of the Board will be performed by Ansi Arumeel, who has the full support of the Supervisory Board for doing so.
The main area of business of the Omniva Group is the provision of postal, logistics and information logistics services and the processing of e-invoices. In addition to the parent company, AS Eesti Post, the group includes several subsidiaries and associates. SIA Omniva and UAB Omniva LT provide parcel machine and courier services on the Latvian and Lithuanian markets. The main activity of AS Maksekeskus is providing payment solutions for e-commerce companies in the Baltic States. Post11 provides comprehensive international logistical solutions for delivering goods throughout the entire world.
In terms of ownership, AS Eesti Post is an enterprise owned by the Estonian state. The group employs 2300 people across the Baltic States and had a turnover of €99.8 million in 2017.
