DHL Group has signed a strategic MoU with robot design firm Boston Dynamics, which will see the global deployment of more than 1,000 advanced robotic units, with DHL set to take a more active role in shaping robotics development in the future.

According to the carrier, the deal marks a major step forward in its cross-business automation strategy and underscores its commitment to co-developing logistics technologies of the future.

The MoU builds on the successful use of Boston Dynamics’ Stretch robot, a case-handling system initially introduced by DHL Supply Chain in 2023 in North America to automate container unloading.

More recently, the contract logistics division has deployed Stretch in the UK and across Europe. The new agreement now paves the way for the global deployment of more than 1,000 additional units.
