Pitney Bowes launches first-of-its-kind shipping label printer

Pitney Bowes Cube in use

Global shipping and mailing company Pitney Bowes has launched a new all-in-one Wi-Fi-enabled thermal shipping label printer, which includes an integrated scale and aims to simplify the shipping of packages and e-commerce orders.

The new PitneyShip Cube features access to the companion PitneyShip software and enables users to process orders from retailers like Amazon, eBay and Shopify. It can weigh packages, compare discounted shipping rates, print shipping labels and track packages all from one compact device with either a mobile phone or computer.

“First of its kind”

According to Shemin Nurmohamed, Senior Vice President of Sending Technology Solutions at Pitney Bowes, the PitneyShip Cube is the first shipping label printer of its kind with a built-in scale.

“With its companion PitneyShip software, PitneyShip Cube allows users to ship faster and smarter,” Nurmohamed said. “It is ideal for both e-commerce and office shippers looking to save time and space by streamlining their process and eliminating unnecessary equipment.”

The PitneyShip Cube includes a built-in 15 lb scale and access to the PitneyShip Ecommerce Starter software plan. With the included PitneyShip software, users can print discounted USPS shipping labels and first-class stamps; weigh, print and ship from a mobile phone or computer; send email tracking notifications automatically to recipients, including proof of delivery, for free; and link Amazon, eBay and Shopify stores to automatically import customer orders directly into their PitneyShip Ecommerce account.

A tough Q3

The launch of the new printer follows a tough July-September quarter for Pitney Bowes. During this quarter the company’s revenues dropped by 5% to US$831 million, while adjusted EBIT dropped by US$12 million to US$38 million on a year-over-year basis.

The financial results came just days after the company said it had gained new and additional e-commerce volumes for peak 2022 after launching new services and expanding its operational network in the US in recent months.

During the release of its Q3 results, Pitney Bowes’ CEO and President Marc Lautenbach said: “We continue to successfully navigate the cross-currents in the global economy and remain singularly focused on emerging from this environment in a stronger position.”
