Some 20,000 mail delivery staff at PostNL, including ex-Sandd workers, are poised for higher pay under a new collective deal agreed with trade unions.
PostNL and the trade unions Bond van Post Personeel (BVPP), CNV Publieke Diensten and FNV have reached an agreement in principle on a new collective labour agreement for mail deliverers. The first two unions will recommend the deal to members while the FNV will remain neutral.
The new collective labour agreement will apply retroactively from 1 October 2019 until 30 September 2021. During this period, the salaries of mail deliverers will be increased by a total of 6.5% in six steps.
PostNL now employs about 20,000 mail deliverers in total after taking on some 4,000 Sandd workers on February 1, when the smaller mail firm’s network was integrated into the national postal operator, adding about 30% more mail volumes for delivery.
The new collective labour agreement applies to all of the 20,000 staff. In the next few weeks, the trade unions will submit the agreement to their members. The outcome of the member consultations is expected by 20 March 2020.
