Nox Nachtexpress (formerly TNT Innight) is the latest German express and parcel delivery company to announce price increases for 2019 due to rising labour costs, including a forthcoming rise in the minimum wage and higher road toll charges.
The price increases will come into effect as of 1 January, 2019, and will be in the range between 5.3% and 9.8% or even higher, depending on the product and the region. The company said the increases are “necessary in order to be able to continue to offer customers a stable quality level and reliable service.”
With turnover of around €240 million, nox Nachtexpress is the European market leader in night deliveries, especially of spare parts and other time-critical industrial items. It employs around 1,000 staff handling up to 180,000 packages every night before the start of work.
Other CEP operators in Germany also plan to increase parcel prices for business customers at the start of next year. Apart from nox, GLS looks to have the highest increase with 7-8%, followed by DPD at 6-7%, trans-o-flex with 5.5% and Hermes at 4-6%.
Market leader DHL Parcel Germany has not disclosed any precise figures but said it wants to raise prices “more strongly than in recent years”.
