UPS is looking to win more SME customers in the US by offering large-scale discounts off list prices for ground and air services during December.
The company, which announced 2019 rate increases on December 5 with just three weeks’ notice for customers, yesterday published details of a special sales promotion campaign for the remainder of the current peak season.
UPS is offering shippers 20% off list rates for UPS Ground shipments within the U.S. and up to 40% off air services within the U.S. and to selected worldwide services, along with Standard shipments to Canada and Mexico.
These “EASY” discounts apply for shipping orders made on ups.com up to December 31. They exclude surcharges and other charges, and cannot be combined with any other offers or pricing incentives, the terms and conditions showed.
UPS said that its current strong delivery network reliability and significantly expanded capacity “is enabling broader discounts” at this important time of the year. The offer also demonstrates its commitment to generate a greater share of revenue from small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) through measures such as customised service offerings, more tailored digital connections and attractive pricing.
“These savings, together with our highly reliable network, which is performing at levels consistent with our non-peak, on-time performance, is a winning combination,” said Kevin Warren, chief marketing officer. “The promotion is simple and easy to use, and has been well received by small and medium-sized businesses.”
Last week UPS announced that it has achieved superior on-time delivery performance this holiday season through its “unprecedented” capacity expansion and new technology deployment. The company is currently able to deliver record volume in a timely fashion thanks to greater collaboration with customers, improved network resource utilization, new automated capacity and the dedication of employees around the world.
In addition to offering incentives to businesses during the holidays, UPS is also offering consumers a rewards program for directing deliveries to nearly 9,000 pick-up points, known as UPS Access Point locations. By using an alternative delivery location, consumers have additional choice, control and convenience for package deliveries.
