DHL Express opens new terminal in Warsaw, Poland

The new DHL Express Warsaw terminal

DHL Express has opened a new facility close to Warsaw Airport to increase capacity and improve capabilities for Polish importers and exporters.

The new facility, with total investment of about PLN 100 million (€23.4 million) was officially opened earlier this week by DHL executives and managers from LS Airport Services, the largest provider of cargo services in Poland.

The 7,000 sqm terminal is located within the LS CARGO PARK, which lies close to Warsaw International Airport, and is one of the most modern facilities at a Polish airport, according to DHL Express Poland.

According to representatives of LS Airport Services and DHL Express, the new complex will strengthen the position of the Polish capital in the air cargo market, while the investment itself will benefit trade, facilitating the operations of Polish importers and exporters.

"Building a terminal for the specific needs of our partner DHL is, on the one hand, an investment to diversify the services provided by LS Airport Services and, on the other, to strengthen the position of the LS CARGO PARK facility as a comprehensive logistics center on the Warsaw map. We currently have the largest infrastructure in Poland dedicated to cargo handling and cooperation with DHL is a complement to the concept of the development of this business area," explained Marcin Opalinski, President of LS Airport Services.

The facility combines a large sorting centre with capacity for up to 6,000 shipments per hour and 78 gates for vehicles, together with a new head office for DHL Express Poland. About 40% of DHL’s Poland volumes pass through Warsaw.

"The opening of the new facility in Warsaw is a response to the growing demand of our customers for international airfreight services. Customers expect professional service and high quality,” said Agnieszka Blas, chief operating officer for DHL Express Poland.

DHL Express has opened several new facilities in Poland in recent years, including in Rzeszow, Lublin, Lodz and at Katowice Airport.
