Germany’s trans-o-flex is bolstering its next morning express delivery services with the launch of a hub-style night-time linehaul network.
The company said the new overnight transportation network, using additional vehicles, will increase the reliability of its time-definite ‘trans-o-flex plus’ service, which combines late pick-ups with delivery by 08.00 or 10.00 on the next working day (including Saturday).
“The new express network will not only optimise our interfaces but also facilitates decisive time savings, which will allow us to ensure the in-time delivery of particularly urgent shipments to the depots,” explained CEO Frank Iden.
“This step is a purposeful and targeted investment in the quality of our services because this is how we want to stand out against our competitors.”
A company spokeswoman told CEP-Research that the overnight sprinter network, launched on April 4, operates as a “hub system” based on a hub in the central German city of Kassel.
“The time-definite services are an important additional element for our customers. Normally our high next-day delivery rate is sufficient but there are time-critical shipments which have to be delivered in the morning or even on Saturdays. This is where we give customers a one-stop service,” she added.
In addition to the plus services, the standard shipments also benefit from the additional sprinter network, because the standard network is relieved of the load caused by critical express shipments, the company pointed out.
Trans-o-flex added that through its ‘co2de green’ programme, customers are given the possibility to compensate for the higher CO2 emissions per shipment associated with faster transport in smaller vehicles. To this end, the company calculates for every customer the emissions per shipment and, upon the customers' request, invests in certified environmental protection projects, in which CO2 emissions are provably reduced.
