La Poste starts delivering 2.5m UEFA EURO 2016 tickets worldwide

France’s La Poste has started delivering 2.5 million tickets worldwide for this summer’s UEFA EURO 2016 football championship as its official operator for postal, parcel and express delivery services.

Football fans from across Europe and beyond are expected to visit France for the competition which will take place from 10 June to 10 July.

As part of the partnership, La Poste will have exclusive responsibility for delivering the UEFA tickets via its postmen and women in metropolitan France, the DPDgroup express delivery network in Europe and the Chronopost express delivery network for the rest of the world.

The first tickets outside France have been delivered since 2 April and the tickets within France will be delivered from 11 April onwards. All tickets will be distributed after being printed gradually in April and May.

While the vast majority of the tickets will be delivered in Europe, with one third being destined for France, they will be distributed to 179 countries on five continents in total. The 2.5 million tickets will be delivered in 420,000 shipments, mostly to individuals, but also to institutional buyers: national federations, states, UEFA EURO 2016 partners, local authorities etc.

The tickets will be delivered to homes and handed over against signature in “secured” envelopes and after identity checks thus ensuring maximum security for the shipper and the recipient.

An e-mail notification will be sent to the recipients upon the dispatch of the ticket. It will contain the tracking number of the shipment in English and French enabling them to track the shipment status by logging to www.laposte.fr/uefa-euro2016 under "My ticket delivery” (mes billets livraison).

In case of absence during delivery, every customer can choose a new date for home delivery or a pick-up point and a nearby post office in particular (only in France) during the six following days.

In France, La Poste will test for the first time home delivery of secured letters in the evenings. In case of the recipient’s absence at the first delivery attempt, the delivery will take place again the following evening or can be redirected to an alternative delivery address. This service will be available in 17 cities.

La Poste promises UEFA and all UEFA EURO 2016 ticket holders completely carbon neutral ticket transport and delivery, in accordance with the commitments it made in March 2012 to offset all the carbon emissions of its postal, parcel, express delivery and online services.

After the torch relay for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and the 1998 FIFA World Cup, La Poste said it will be doing its bit to make UEFA EURO 2016 a huge success throughout the country, thanks to its network of post offices, its 85,000 postmen and women and its online services. UEFA EURO 2016 products will also be on sale through La Poste, in particular in main post offices.
