DHL Express has continued to roll out various new services for SME and private customers in Japan, the Caribbean and Malta in the last few weeks.
In Japan, the company has partnered with Kinko’s Japan to open 16 DHL service points, bringing the total number of service points in the country to 170. The expansion spans across major cities including Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo, Sendai, Yokohama and Kanazawa, boosting accessibility and providing greater convenience for customers.
The new service points will be located in Kinko’s Japan stores, which provide various on-demand printing services including 3D printing and poster printing. At these service points, DHL Express Easy, an easy-to-use international express service with complimentary packaging at fixed prices, will be available to customers.
The expansion comes amid growing demand by Japanese small-to-medium companies and consumers to ship internationally. With the strengthening of DHL’s service point network, customers have the convenience of dropping off their parcels in highly accessible locations across major cities which are near terminal stations and within central business districts.
“We are pleased to collaborate with leading on-demand service provider Kinko’s Japan to enable customers to meet time-sensitive international shipping needs. Amid growing demand brought about by internationalization, we are constantly exploring opportunities to support businesses of all sizes with simplicity and convenience in mind,” said Taketo Yamakawa, President and Representative Director of DHL Japan.
“By teaming up with logistics leader DHL, we are confident businesses will have better access to reliable one-stop logistics solutions to expand their reach overseas,” said Hiroaki Saijo, President & CEO of Kinko’s Japan Co., Ltd. “We will continue to innovate and introduce new services that respond swiftly to changing business needs.”
In the Caribbean, DHL has launched Express Easy in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti, offering walk-in customers simple, all-inclusive rates that are lower than standard DHL Express Worldwide prices.
On Jamaica, the new service was launched at DHL service points and stores of service partner Mail Pac in Kingston, Montego Bay and six other towns, and will be extended across the island. On Trinidad, Express Easy is also available at three additional locations serviced by Laparkan, with whom DHL Express Trinidad & Tobago recently partnered. In Haiti, the service is available at several DHL locations across the country.
“DHL Jamaica understands that every dollar spent is important to customers, and as such, continues to look for easier and more cost-effective ways for them to ship internationally,” said Donovan James, Country Manager of DHL Express Jamaica. “Small and medium-size enterprises, or SMEs, are the key drivers of growth for our economy. The introduction of DHL Express Easy to the Jamaican market, along with the international logistics expertise that DHL has, will be very beneficial for them in terms of pricing structure and will help SMEs to expand and grow their business internationally," he added.
Each box used for shipping DHL Express Easy, sold as a one-piece shipment, comes with a defined maximum weight and a simple rate based on the shipment’s destination. Non-account holders and cash customers can visit one of the locations to take advantage of Express Easy and send an international export delivery of document and/or non-document shipments.
Finally, DHL Express has introduced parcel lockers on Malta with three convenient Lock-it Stations, located at petrol stations on the island. Each terminal has three different sized compartments to hold smaller or large packages. Customers are notified of their parcel’s arrival and receive a PIN code to use to open the self-service lockers.
DHL Express Country Manager for Malta, Charles Schiavone, said: “Malta is one of the first countries in Europe to introduce these Lock-it Stations. I am confident that this new delivery channel will be well accepted, especially since the sites we have chosen are so easily accessible.”
