EuroAirport renovates freight terminal for express operations

DHL plane at EuroAirport

EuroAirport (previously known as Basle-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport) is investing €3m in the renovation of its former freight terminal which now serves as a centre dedicated to express freight operations.

The work, which  started in December 2015 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2017, entails renovating an area of around 18,500 sqm where handling, storage and administrative activities are carried out.

DHL, FedEx, TNT and UPS are each present at the airport operating air services to their respective European hubs in Leipzig, Paris, Liège and Cologne.

The airport handled 38,102 tonnes of express freight last year, an increase of 4% on 2014, out of total freight traffic of 101,050 tonnes (+3%).

Located on the French-Swiss-German border, EuroAirport opened a new 21,000 sqm cargo terminal early in 2015 which attracted investment of €40 million.

AirBridgeCargo, Emirates SkyCargo, Korean Air, Qatar Airlines and LAN Cargo operate all-cargo services to and from the airport.
