DHL Express has launched a new flexible parcel collection service for customers in Australia as part of its new partnership with Hubbed, an Australian one-stop e-commerce service provider with a growing network of newsagents, which is 30% owned by Singapore Post, Australian media reported.
The new service, which was reportedly launched today, gives DHL customers additional pick-up options to collect their parcels from more than 680 newsagents across Australia which are part of Hubbed’s network to make online shopping and parcel deliveries more convenient for customers in the country.
Gary Edstein, DHL Express Oceania’s Senior Vice President was quoted as saying: "Newsagents are generally located in main shopping areas and have long trading hours including weekends, making them particularly customer-friendly. As more Australians turn to online shopping to buy the goods they want and need, we are expanding our delivery options. Correspondingly, by reducing the number of attempts our couriers need to make before a package is delivered, we can deliver a higher quality service to our customer base.”
Currently, the service is available in many city locations and a few regional centres nationwide.
"Hubbed believes newsagents are the answer to bringing physical and online retail together, making shopping more convenient," Hubbed CEO David McLean was quoted as saying.
Hubbed is the only logistics provider exclusive to the newsagency channel in Australia, offering international and domestic parcel shipping and collection services nationwide.
Last year, Singapore Post’s subsidiary Quantium Solutions Australia invested AUS $4.3 million (€2.7 million) in a 30% stake in Hubbed. As part of the partnership, SingPost works together with CouriersPlease, owned by Quantium Solutions, and Hubbed to provide more delivery options for online shoppers in Australia. They can thus order door-to-door parcel deliveries or collect and drop-off their parcels themselves from a newsagent near them.
