Mail deliverers okay new PostNL collective pay deal

Dutch mail deliverers have approved a new collective labour agreement (CLA) with PostNL which will give them low pay rises.

PostNL said today that the CLA with the trade unions Bond van Post Personeel, FNV Publiek Belang and CNV Publieke Diensten has been finalised following consent from union members.

The two-year agreement includes provisions for pay increases and expense compensation. It will go into effect retroactively as of 1 October 2015, and will remain effective until 30 September 2017.

The pay rises will take place in several stages over the next two years. Mail deliverer salaries in the first, second and third pay tiers will be increased by 0.9% as of 1 January 2016, 0.5% as of 1 July 2016, 0.9% as of 1 January 2017 and 0.5% as of 1 July 2017.

In addition, the expense allowance will now be based on the number of contract hours a mail deliverer works. The allowance varies from €70 to €105 per year and is paid out per month. Additionally, mail deliverers will be compensated for the use of their own smartphone at work.
