Russian express operator Pony Express has signed a new contract with shoe retail chain Zenden as its official logistics partner which includes storage and warehousing services.
The storage capacity agreed in the contract will complement the existing system of warehouses operated by Zenden including the terminals in Novorossiysk, Pyatigorsk, St. Petersburg and Chelyabinsk. The warehousing services that Pony Express will provide include includes cargo handling, order batching, preparation of transport documents, reporting etc.
Meanwhile, the integration of the respective IT systems of the two companies has been completed, with inquiries, transaction confirmations, reports and billing now being handled in automatic mode.
To store Zenden’s products, Pony Express uses various technologies including shelf storage of palletised goods (EUR pallet with a height of 1.8 m), semi-palletised storage of goods with a height below 0.9 m, a picking zone and a storage area for completed orders.
The partnership agreement between Pony Express and the trade industrial holding Zenden has been concluded until the end of 2016 with a possibility of extension.
Elena Golovach, director of the 3PL department at Pony Express, said: “We appreciate Zenden’s decision to outsource its warehousing logistics in the Moscow region to us. Today, we are in negotiations with our partner to include in the service package such logistics services as goods delivery (FTL/LTL), express delivery of documents and correspondence. In addition, we do not exclude the possibility of expanding the geographical coverage of the partnership, particularly in terms of storage.”
Alexander Sarychev, Zenden Managing Director, added: “The cooperation with Pony Express became a logical step in the development of our company. Outsourcing of non-core working processes is not only a way to optimise finances but also an opportunity to focus on the major tasks for quality improvement. We are pleased to have found a partner with high professionalism and business reputation based on quality services. In the near future, we plan to sign a contract on the delivery of goods in the regions and over short distances (stores in Moscow and the Moscow region).”
A manufacturer and a federal network of multi-brand shops of footwear and accessories, Zenden was founded by Russian entrepreneur Andrey Pavlov in 1997, with the first factory for the production of branded Zenden shoes being opened in 2002. The first branded Zenden store was opened in 2005. Zenden is now an international company with centralised management and two offices in Moscow and Guangzhou (China). The company's staff counts more than 2,000 people. In addition, the company began producing cosmetics for shoes under the brand Zenden in Sweden and Russia. About 200 stores in 101 Russian cities operate under the Zenden brand.
