Staff unions at ASL Airlines France (ex-Europe Airpost) have hit out at plans by La Poste to switch to a foreign airline to transport part of its domestic air mail and express volumes.
From 1 January 2016, West Atlantic Cargo Airlines (WACA) is set to replace ASL Airlines France in operating two air routes from Paris' Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport on behalf of the French state postal utility.
The unions claim these routes represents 33 % of ASL Airlines France's current business with La Poste and fear the switch to WACA could lead to a total of 465 jobs cuts at the French carrier.
They denounce "social dumping action" on the part of La Poste "which can only encourage unfair competition by a foreign airline to the detriment of (the company's) long-standing operator."
