US start-up Deliv buys New York courier

US crowdsourced, last mile delivery company Deliv has acquired Zipments, a major New York City same-day delivery company.

The takeover marks the second acquisition for Deliv, giving it a particularly strong foothold and delivery density in New York City, one of the largest markets for same-day delivery in the country. The company currently operates in 17 markets across the USA.

With the acquisition of Zipments, Deliv said it now provides same-day service for nearly 4,000 clients nationwide. Zipments services marquis brands such as DVF, Ted Baker, and Trina Turk, on-demand companies such as Casper, Handy, and Plated, local merchants such as B&H, Murray's Cheese and Epicerie Boulud, as well as large corporate clients who need to send packages across town.

"Zipments has established itself as the leader of same-day delivery in New York City, and the team has done a magnificent job building up its profitable business in this prime and complex market," said Daphne Carmeli, founder and CEO of Deliv. "When you consider that one of the keys to our business is route density, joining forces enhances operational efficiencies. We also share a similar philosophy, similar business model, and similar clients, so Zipments is a great match for us on multiple levels."

Deliv powers scheduled, same-day delivery and returns for many top national retailers and category leaders, such as Best Buy, EXPRESS, Kohl's, Macy's, Pottery Barn, and Williams-Sonoma, as well as thousands of local merchants and innovative, pure-play e-commerce companies like BloomThat, Cako, Urban Stems, and Laundry Locker. The company partners with these merchants on the back-end to ensure that they maintain their critical connection with customers, providing a completely seamless experience for consumers.

"Deliv is the de facto leader in same-day delivery for omni-channel retailers and has one of the largest same-day delivery footprints in the nation," said Garrick Pohl, founder and CEO of Zipments. "We're thrilled to join such a great team to further disrupt last mile logistics in retail."
