DHL Express has announced the launch of its specialist aviation solution, DHL Aerospace, in Australia aimed at a "growing portfolio" of customers in the aerospace industry.
"As an aviation specialist with more than 250 dedicated aircraft globally, DHL Express understands the need to keep planes in the air," the company said.
"DHL Aerospace offers a 24/7 service, running 365 days a year to ensure aviation operators maintain safe and consistent operations. This includes routine heavyweight shipments through to a Next Flight Out service for critical AOG (Aircraft-on-Ground) items across over 220 countries and territories worldwide," it added.
Commenting on the launch of DHL Aerospace in Australia, Gary Edstein, Senior Vice President of DHL Express Oceania said: “As an international air express carrier, aviation is at the core of our business. We saw a need to offer this key industry sector with streamlined access to specialised support and resources.
“We understand that a plane sitting on the tarmac costs money and can also result in significant inconveniences for travellers and businesses. DHL Aerospace will optimize pick-up options, routing, transport costs and transit time to ensure key aircraft parts are delivered to the correct airport as swiftly as possible.”
The Aerospace Desk is located in DHL’s call centre in Brisbane, providing year-round support alongside Commercial Team specialists who develop comprehensive Service Level Agreements and individual KPIs, the company underlined.
DHL Aerospace is designed for all companies operating in the aviation industry including airlines, OEMs and manufacturers, engine manufacturers, suppliers and MRO/parts distributors as well as defence and services space firms.
The new service aims to maintain the security and real-time visibility of aircraft parts, engines and components while reducing aircraft out-of-service time.
