German-based night delivery company Night Star Express (NSE) has launched regular deliveries on weekends now serving all its customers in Germany six days a week in response to the increased demand from its core target groups.
The Germany-wide delivery service will be initially available as a premium service with a reduced transport network. The pick-up of goods will take place on Saturday and the delivery will be made on Sunday morning until 8 am.
"The expansion of our service portfolio to include a sixth delivery day is an important step in the growth strategy of Night Star Express. We want to continue convincing existing and potential customers with a high quality service,” Night Star Express managing director Matthias Hohmann said.
“Until now, the night express service has been used on the weekends mainly by horse breeders during the breeding season from March to August and by farm machine manufacturers,” Joachim Zeuch, Senior Project Manager, Night Star Express GmbH Logistik, said. “Over the last months, we were able to convince more and more customers from other sectors of our weekend offering.”
These customers have already been using for years the usual overnight express service from Monday to Friday in order to supply their recipients with necessary goods in the night until 8am, just in time before they start working. Now, customers can firmly integrate the sixth delivery day from Saturday night to Sunday in their planning to get the urgently needed spare parts shipped to customers by Monday at the latest. Failure and downtime can thus be minimised. Deliveries to Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands are also possible.
In the first half of 2015, Night Star Express, which sees itself as Europe’s second-largest night delivery specialist, recorded mid-single digit percentage growth transporting around 2.43 million shipments, which corresponds to the same volume growth a year ago when it delivered 2.4 million parcels. The stable growth was driven by its cross-border business and new customers in the core industries, the company said earlier.
Night Star Express was founded in 1993 by seven medium-sized German freight companies. The carrier picks up parcels across Germany by late afternoon and delivers them by not later than eight in the morning. Shipments are delivered to exact and individually prescribed locations, such as car boots, storehouses or depot boxes.
