Canada Post has launched its same-day service “Delivered Tonight” in Montreal, the third major city in Canada where customers of selected retailers can have their purchases delivered within a few hours after placing their online order.
With the launch, the customers of fashion retailers ‘Frank & Oak’ and ‘SSENSE’ as well as ‘Eros et compagnie’ can place their online order by early afternoon to get the ordered items delivered by Canada Post to their home between 5:30 pm and 9pm on the same day.
Canada Post has been operating the same-day delivery service in the Greater Toronto Area since 2013 and in Vancouver since last year. The expansion of Delivered Tonight to Montreal opens up the service to an additional 2.2 million people, bringing the total number of Canadian consumers now using it to about 8.5 million.
“As the company that delivers two out of three parcels ordered online, we want to continue to introduce services that offer consumers the control and convenience they want in their delivery experience,” René Desmarais, Senior Vice-President, Parcels at Canada Post, said. “We learned a lot from our experiences in Toronto and Vancouver, and we’re looking forward to bringing more merchants on board in Montreal.”
Canada Post highlighted Delivered Tonight as another example of how retailing and its delivery options are changing rapidly in response to growing consumer demand. In May this year, the postal operator launched another innovative service ‘FlexDelivery’ enabling customers to direct their online orders to any alternative address apart from their homes such as a post office near their workplace, their child’s caregiver, their cottage or a travel destination (or all of the above).
Canada Post reaches 15.7 million addresses and operates the country’s largest retail network offering convenient pickup and return options for online shoppers.
