SF Express, the largest private express logistics company in China, is set to build a freight hub airport in Wuhan or neighbouring cities in Central China's Hubei Province, according to Chinese media reports which quoted group president, Tu Wei.
Shenzhen-based SF Express is currently looking at possible sites for the airport with Yanji Town, about 75 kilometres east of Wuhan, mooted as the most likely location.
The airport could be in service by 2020, when SF Express' projected freighter fleet will have reached 100 aircraft.
The reports said establishing its own airport would allow SF Express to enhance logistics efficiency, cut costs and provide more flexibility in serving routes.
