UPS yesterday opened its new Global Business Services (GBS) centre in the Polish city of Lodz, making it the second GBS centre of its kind in the country.
The new back-office administration centre highlights UPS’s commitment to continued investment in Poland and will create 130 additional jobs in the area in 2015. Additional employment opportunities in finance and accounting are expected in the future.
“Poland represents an important market for UPS and our customers,” said Carol Brolley, Vice President, UPS GBS. “This new GBS centre in Lodz will allow us to increase the efficiency of our administrative operations throughout Europe, which will result in improved quality and standardization of processes, while offering skilled jobs to members of the community in the Lodz area.”
A UPS division, GBS provides shared international services, including information services, customer service and accounting. UPS opened its first GBS centre in Poland in Wroclaw in 2006, where more than 600 people are employed today.
