Fast-growing crowdsourced same-day delivery company Deliv has acquired Chicago-based WeDeliver to expand its US network and deepen its customer base.
The acquisition of WeDeliver for an undisclosed sum will give Deliv a stronger presence in the Chicago area. Launched in early 2013, WeDeliver provides same-day delivery services for over 100 local merchants.
California-based Deliv, which also launched in 2013 backed by some of Silicon Valley's leading venture capital firms, is experiencing rapid growth with an 800% organic increase in volume from January to June 2015 compared to the same period in 2014. The company allows omnichannel retailers to offer their customers same-day delivery by adding the Deliv delivery option into their existing checkout process.
The technology-based delivery service operates an Uber-style business model, using on-demand private drivers to deliver goods within cities. This enables it to offer lower rates than courier and parcel delivery companies. Drivers are rated by customers and by Deliv operational staff.
Deliv currently operates in eight markets, including Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Northern New Jersey, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle and Washington, D.C. It provides same-day deliveries for over 250 national retailers, including Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma, Foot Locker and others, and has partnered with the six largest mall operators in the country.
