GLS Germany simplifies returns of online parcels

GLS simplifies returns

GLS Germany has expanded its return services for parcels ordered online with additional possibilities for customers to create a return label thus simplifying the handling of returns in online and mail-order trade.

With returns being part of online trade, their simple handling is important for customer loyalty and it is an advantage for retailers to be able to offer their customers different options, GLS explained.

As part of its expanded ShopReturnService, customers now have three options to create the return label:

* The shipper puts the return label inside the parcel with the product ordered.
* The shipper generates the label via his/her GLS account, if needed, and forwards the link for download or the PDF with the label to the recipient.
* The recipient gets a link to the GLS online portal and can generate the label independently via a few clicks. The shippers can personalise this section with their company logo and name.

"Several additional features make the return process for shippers and recipients equally comfortable," Christian Herrlich, Managing Director GLS IT, said. The address data for creating the label are automatically displayed in the online form in order to make the handling easier. With just one click, the recipient can also find the nearest parcel shop.

The parcel recipients can return their products ordered at each of the 5,000 GLS parcel shops across Germany free of charge. The shipper only pays when a parcel has been returned.
