FedEx Express has signed an agreement with 7-Eleven, the largest convenience store chain in Taiwan, to expand its services to more than 5,000 stores across the country providing more flexibility and convenience to customers.
This collaboration brings the total number of FedEx retail service points in Taiwan to more than 6,300 including over 1,300 FedEx Authorised Ship Centres at Chunghwa Post offices where customers can drop off their packages, Eslite Bookstores, Kodak Express stores and Sir Speedy centres.
With 7-Eleven’s extensive network, FedEx customers can now pick up their parcels shipped via FedEx International Priority or FedEx International Economy services at their preferred 7-Eleven location round the clock, seven days a week, at no additional charge.
“At FedEx, we constantly look at ways to respond to customers’ evolving needs,” Michael Chu, managing director, FedEx Express, Taiwan, said. “Today, customers increasingly ask for flexibility – from the way they ship to the way they receive the package – particularly so in the fast-growing e-commerce market. The retail service network expansion through 7-Eleven not only adds to our last-mile delivery capabilities, but also demonstrates our efforts to address the needs of customers.”
In Asia Pacific, e-commerce sales are expected to reach US$681.2 billion this year, according to eMarketer, exceeding forecasts for all the other regions in the world. This e-commerce boom is also reflected in Taiwan where e-commerce is forecast to grow by 150% to NT$200 billion (€5.7 billion) this year, according to the Financial Supervisory Commission.
“We have a vast retail network across Taiwan – from urban to rural to residential to business districts. There is always a 7-Eleven store in the neighborhood, making us an ideal ally for FedEx,” a spokesperson for 7-Eleven said. “We are committed to continuously providing consumers with everyday convenient services. Now consumers are not only able to purchase local specialties, pay utility bills, use ATM service at a 7-Eleven store nearby, they can also choose to pick up their FedEx packages at their preferred time at 7-Eleven, enjoying added ease and convenience.”
As a special promotion of the FedEx service at 7-Eleven, customers who use the pick-up service between now and June 30, 2015, have a chance to win an iPad mini 3 from FedEx.
