Itella Logistics in Baltics cooperates with Nordic freight forwarder Freja

Freja drives on with Itella cooperation

Itella Logistics, part of the newly rebranded Posti Group, has started a cooperation with the Danish freight forwarder Freja in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, after Posti sold its Scandinavian trucking operations in April as part of a major restructuring over the last few months.

After changing its structure in the Nordic countries, Itella is no longer active in the Nordic countries in its own name, Freja explained. “However, Itella Logistics Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are still going strong and continue to strengthen their position in the Baltic States.”

“We are therefore pleased to announce that Freja Denmark, Norway and Sweden will start a cooperation with Itella Logistics in the Baltic States on June 1st 2015 regarding regular groupage transports as well as part- and full loads,” the company said.

The cooperation will ensure regular departures, a fine meshed distribution network, track & trace, along with ‘green & lean’ services in the Baltics, Freja added.

Founded in 1985 in Skive, Freja has experienced dynamic growth with an average annual growth rate of around 20%. The company rebranded to FREJA Transport & Logistics A/S in 1997, with the name signalling a focus on total logistics solutions. After its first takeover in the Nordics of the Finnish firm ‘Maa ja Meri Oy’, Freja has gradually established itself in Sweden and Norway through acquisitions and own-establishment.

Today, the Freja group has its head office in Skive and branches in Taastrup (Copenhagen), Aarhus, and Vejle in Denmark; Helsinki and Turku in Finland, Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger in Norway; as well as Stockholm and Helsingborg in Sweden, which make the company a ‘real Nordic player’.

Freja’s network comprises comprehensive global transport alliances, storage facilities and bonded warehouses, with services including order booking, packing and packaging and end-recipient deliveries. The company has made major investments in its IT operations.
