Royal Mail today enhanced its deferred parcel service for major business customers, especially e-retailers, by extending acceptance times for its ‘Royal Mail Tracked 48’ service until midnight.
Major business customers can now have their parcels collected by Royal Mail, or drop them off, until 23:59 on any working weekday, for delivery within two working days.
These later collection times have been implemented to better meet the needs of the UK’s 24/7 retailers and their customers. With 1 in 6 shoppers now doing virtually all their shopping online, the later acceptance times for Royal Mail Tracked 48 will enable businesses around the UK to ensure that their customers get their orders faster.
From today (May 19), any Royal Mail account customer sending more than fifty Royal Mail Tracked 48 parcels per collection can make use of the extended acceptance times. The Tracked 48 service is available to any customer sending more than 1,000 parcels per year.
As part of the Tracked 48 service, Royal Mail will collect parcels from the customer’s location or they can use drop-off centres at mail centres and regional distribution centres across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The extended acceptance hours are in operation Monday to Friday throughout the year excluding bank holidays.
The Royal Mail Tracked 48 service previously accepted parcels up to 5-6pm Monday to Friday, depending on the despatch location, the postal group said. The enhancements to Royal Mail Tracked 48 are the latest in a programme of innovations which are making Royal Mail’s services more accessible, convenient and digitally enabled.
Nick Landon, Managing Director Royal Mail Parcels, said: “Royal Mail is a proud partner for British business. We work hard to listen and respond to the needs of our customers. We understood that later acceptance could make the difference between satisfied customers and delighted customers and we are very pleased to be helping companies to deliver exceptional service to their shoppers. This latest product enhancement is one more way that Royal Mail is building a better delivery service for British businesses and consumers alike.”
