Managerial changes at UPS, TNT, Austrian Post, bpost and PostNord

UPS' Ed Rogers

UPS, TNT, Austrian Post, bpost and PostNord have all made senior managerial appointments in recent days and weeks.

At UPS, Edward Rogers has been named the new Global Director of Sustainability replacing Steve Leffin who is retiring after more than 30 years with the company. Leffin helped create UPS's sustainability strategy and led a number of successful initiatives during his seven years guiding UPS's Sustainability group globally. Rogers joined UPS in 1994. In the corporate strategy group, he led projects related to strategic planning, enterprise strategy communication, corporate development, corporate venturing, sustainability strategy and enterprise risk management.

Rhonda Clark, UPS chief sustainability officer and vice president of environmental affairs, said: "We are grateful to Steve for his more than three decades of service to UPS and strong collaboration with environmental leaders around the world. Ed Rogers' former role as global strategy manager and his new post as Global Director of Sustainability align perfectly and will help the company continue to implement industry-leading sustainability practices."

TNT has made appointments in France, Italy and India. Dutch-born Bart Sasse has been named president of TNT International France, leaving Andreas Waalberg in charge of TNT’s domestic French business. Sasse has extensive experience in the express sector after working with DHL for nearly 15 years. TNT International France represents about a quarter of TNT’s overall business in the country.

In Italy, TNT has appointed Christophe Boustouller (49) as the new Managing Director with responsibility for domestic and international operations. He succeeds Tony Jakobsen who has been appointed as Business Development Director, TNT Domestics. With 25 years of experience in transport, logistics and supply chain management, French-born Boustouller previously worked at the cold chain logistics firm Cryo Exp as General Manager, and also worked for DHL and TNT Express France.

TNT India has also appointed a new country manager. P.L. Venkateswaran (Venkat) previously served as finance director of TNT East Asia and was responsible for managing the financial operations, legal and business control functions for a number of TNT countries, including India. In his new role, Venkat will be responsible for growing TNT’s international express delivery services and healthcare logistics business in the country.

In Europe, bpost CFO Pierre Winand has decided to leave the company from July 1, 2015 to pursue a new challenge. CEO Koen Van Gerven will take up the CFO tasks and responsibilities to guarantee a smooth and flawless transition until the appointment of the new CFO. Françoise Masai, Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Koen Van Gerven both thanked Winand for his contribution to bpost’s successful transformation and wished him all the best in his next career step.

At Austrian Post, Peter Umundum has been re-appointed as board member with responsibility for the Parcel & Logistics division. His present contract runs until March 31, 2016 and will be extended for a further three years. Umundum joined the company in 2005 and was appointed head of parcels and logistics in 2011.

PostNord has appointed Annemarie Gardshol as acting CEO at communication services subsidiary Strålfors, which could be sold, as from June 1. She will replace Per Samuelson who is to become CEO at Beijer Electronics AB, leaving the position of Strålfors CEO after 16 years. PostNord confirmed that the process to investigate a possible sale of Strålfors “is under way and is going ahead as planned”.

Gardshol, who serves as Chief Strategy Officer and Head of e-Commerce at PostNord, is expected to remain as CEO at Strålfors until the process is completed. However, she will remain part of PostNord’s Group Executive Team and will retain responsibility for PostNord’s e-commerce business.
