Unions approve new Swiss Post collective agreement

Swiss Post

A new collective agreement and pay deal at Swiss Post, including moderate salary increases, have been approved by unions and will come into force next January.

The heads of Swiss Post, the trade union syndicom and the staff association transfair have signed the new collective employment contracts for Post CH Ltd, PostBus Switzerland Ltd and PostFinance Ltd, the company announced today.

All of the social partners are satisfied with the new contracts which guarantee good and fair working conditions at Swiss Post and take into consideration both the needs of the company and the interests of staff, the postal operator added.

Swiss Post, the trade union syndicom and the staff association transfair have been negotiating a new Swiss Post collective agreement (CEC) over the past eighteen months. As of 1 January 2016, each of the three subsidiaries, Post CH Ltd, PostBus Switzerland Ltd and PostFinance Ltd, will receive a new CEC, with their main points regulated in an overall umbrella CEC.

Salary measures for 2016 were also determined as part of the CEC negotiations. The social partners have agreed to use 0.6% of the total salary sum for individual, performance-related salary measures for Post CH Ltd and PostFinance Ltd. Moreover, all employees will receive a one-off payment of 400 francs. At PostBus Switzerland Ltd, 0.4% of the total salary sum will be used for individual, performance-based salary measures.

The negotiations over employment conditions for various other Swiss Post subsidiaries will begin in the second half of the year. The collective employment contracts for Swiss Post Solutions Ltd, Presto Presse-Vertriebs AG and PostLogistics Ltd were already negotiated at an earlier stage. All of the negotiations were necessary due to the new postal legislation which came into effect at the end of 2012.
