FedEx supports Nepal aid efforts

Red Cross aid in Nepal

FedEx is gearing up to support international charities which plan to fly relief supplies into Nepal to assist victims of the country’s devastating earthquake.

The company said: “As we assess the scope of the damage in the region, FedEx is supporting relief efforts through our long-term disaster relief partners such as the American Red Cross who work closely with the Nepal Red Cross and Red Crescent.  We’re determining the best ways for us to help meet the needs of survivors, in terms of humanitarian assistance, in-kind contributions, and transportation resources to ship critical medical aid and supplies.”

FedEx added that it is experiencing temporary service delays to and from Nepal due to the earthquake. “We are committed to the safety of our people across the FedEx network and will resume our regular service schedule as soon as possible,” the company said.

DHL has already sent a Disaster Response Team to help organise logistics at Kathmandu Airport as scores of aid flights land at the capital’s airport, while UPS is in contact with its humanitarian aid partners, including UNICEF, the World Food Programme (WFP), and UNHCR, who are currently assessing their needs on the ground.
