DPD launches new Shop2Shop parcel delivery option in Germany

DPD launches Shop2Shop delivery option

DPD Germany has launched a new delivery option for private and small-scale business shippers
enabling them to choose during the online order process to ship parcels directly to one of DPD’s
6,000 parcel shops across the country.

Commenting on the “DPD Shop2Shop” delivery option, DPD Germany CEO Boris Winkelmann said: “Many
consignees who are not at home during the day are already redirecting their shipments to one of our
6,000 DPD parcel shops. We therefore want to make this option available to all private and
small-scale business shippers at the stage when the order is placed. In addition, delivery to a
shop is highly efficient, which means that we can offer this product at very competitive
prices.”

The DPD Shop2Shop parcel is available from €3.70, which DPD claimed was the cheapest delivery
option for private and small-scale business shippers. The prices are based on a simple T-shirt
principle, with the sizes XS, S, M, and L.

In order to send a Shop2Shop parcel, consignors enter the shipping data via the online portal
www.dpdwebpaket.de including the destination parcel shop of
their choice. The payment is also effected online by direct debit or PayPal.

They can then hand in their parcel at any of the 6,000 DPD parcel shops. The content of each
parcel is automatically insured up to €520, with all shipments transported in a fully
carbon-neutral way, at no extra cost for the customer, DPD said.

On the morning of the delivery, the recipients of the Shop2Shop parcels are informed of the
one-hour delivery time slot. They can also check it via the online shipment tracking function by
entering the individual parcel label number.

As soon as the parcel arrives at the parcel shop indicated, the recipient is also informed by
e-mail, with the parcel available with immediate effect or at any time within the seven-day period
during which it is stored at the parcel shop. Many shops are opened late in the evenings until 8 pm
or even longer.

The recently rebranded DPD group has a uniform parcel shop network extending to 16,000 parcel
shop locations across 13 European countries, which is due to expand to 22,000 locations by the end
of 2015 and to 26,000 in 2016. In the course of 2015, new national networks will be built up in
Great Britain (2,500 shops) and Spain (1,000 shops).
