German-based night delivery company Night Star Express recorded solid growth in 2014, thanks toadditional revenues generated through cross-border business with existing customers keeping the
company on a moderate expansion course. The night delivery specialist, a joint venture between seven mid-sized freight forwarders, transported around 4.9 million shipments in 2014, representing a volume increase of 3%, compared tothe previous year.
“We are quite satisfied with the three percent volume growth we achieved in 2014 even though wenarrowly missed the five-million shipments mark,” Night Star Express managing director MatthiasHohmann said.
He explained that competition on the night express market in Germany has considerably increasedin the last two years. “The prices in all customer segments have thus come under pressure. Thisdevelopment has become noticeable in 2014 with slower shipment growth.”
For 2015, Night Star Express plans further investments in IT services which are expected toprovide added value to customers through more efficient shipping. Combined with high-quality nightexpress services, the company is preparing for competition and future growth.
Night Star Express, with some 650 staff and about 700 vehicles, delivers over 4.9 millionshipments a year for customers such as Toyota, BMW, Iveco, Winkler Nutzfahrzeuge and ZeppelinBaumaschinen, among others.
