DHL Express expands in the Philippines

DHL Express is expanding in the Philippines with a 30 million pesos (€0.6m) investment in a newfacility at Clark, the country’s second-largest metropolis, to cater to the growing logistics

demands of the region, and plans further investments.

The new Clark Service Center, covering a total of 1,000 sqm, is designed to optimise processesto increase handling capacity and to facilitate the industry’s growing demands for trade andbenefitting customers particularly those based in the North Luzon area.

North Luzon is a gateway to Manila for many industries such as electronics, semiconductors,agriculture and manufacturing. Clark is Philippines’ second biggest metropolis, with a populationof over 11 million that contributes 10% to the national economy. 

“We see Clark as the future international gateway for the Philippines,” said Yasmin Aladad Khan,Senior Vice President for South East Asia & South Asia, DHL Express. “Its existinginfrastructure makes it a perfect hub for trade and commerce. The opening of our Service Center inClark reinforces our commitment to strengthen the logistics capabilities in the area by buildingtechnologically-advanced infrastructure that will support and facilitate the industry’s growingdemands for trade.”

The facility will hold new vehicles, conveyor equipment and a cargo scanner. For securitypurposes, the new service centre will be equipped with CCTV cameras all strategically locatedthroughout the service centre in line with the shipment process flow. It is also equipped withefficient LED lighting to reduce power consumption and carbon emissions by an estimated 30%.

The Clark Service Center Facility will be the first investment of DHL Express in the Philippinesin 2015; with other plans including expansion in key provinces and cities such as Vismin,Calabarzon and North Luzon.

More importantly, we will continue to invest in upgrading our facilities and skill setsof our employees to meet the changing demands of our customers in the Philippines,” said YatiAbdullah, Country Manager, DHL Express Philippines.
