DPD has partnered with bol.com, one of the largest online retailers in the Netherlands andBelgium, to enable individuals and independent professionals to use its shipping services for their
online orders from February onwards.DPD said its extensive network, combined with service quality and favourable tariffs, provides agood delivery alternative for customers who purchase items via bol.com.
“Many years of experience, a strong logistics network, our focus on innovation and ongoingefforts to put consumers at the centre of all our thoughts resulted in a very interesting serviceoffering for e-commerce players. We are delighted to reap the recognition of the market. Thiscollaboration with a big name in e-commerce such as bol.com shows that we took the right directiontowards consumers,” said Filip Corens, Director Sales & Marketing DPD (Belgium).
“More than ever, we will continue on this path in 2015. We are currently studying thepossibilities of going further in optimising delivery information for customers waiting for theirparcels. At the same time, we are continuing our efforts in growing our international parcel shopnetwork (1,500 parcel shops in the Benelux, 7,000 in France, 6,000 in Germany) in Europe and areworking to improve possibilities of IT integration in the web shops.”
DPD Belux consists of five depots, with one depot in Luxemburg (Bettembourg), four in Belgium(Mechelen, Aalter, Flémall and Courcelles) and 1,300 parcel shops in the Benelux. In 2013, DPDBelux transported nearly 9.5 million parcels, a 13% increase compared to 2012. It employs 287permanent staff and 414 independent drivers.
Bol.com is based in Utrecht and claims to be the largest book e-retailer in the Netherlandsoffering 1.5 million Dutch and English books, CDs, DVDs, videos, software and games.
