TNT upgrades international deliveries to Germany with wider coverage

TNT

TNT today announced a major upgrade of its international delivery service to Germany nowguaranteeing next-day delivery to all postal codes in the country and optional delivery before

12:00 nationwide.

Both services are available for parcels and heavier freight shipments. The nationwide coverageapplies to 99.7% of German postal codes, excluding the German islands and other coastal areas withlimited access.

TNT said the expanded coverage will benefit all companies that export goods to Germany which isEurope’s largest express delivery market and TNT’s most important destination for internationaldeliveries. German companies importing goods from abroad will also profit from the service.

The upgrade will allow customers to reach 10% of German territory one day faster, with theoption to get shipments delivered to Germany before 12:00. The upgrade doubles the number of postalcode areas for which delivery before noon can be booked.

TNT is thus responding to growing demand for fast and reliable delivery services, with greatercontrol as far as the delivery time is concerned. The improvements help SMEs and large companies inindustries such as automotive, industrial, high tech, healthcare and lifestyle to optimise theirsupply chains and service the German market and their end customers more efficiently.

In the automotive sector, for example, spare parts delivered before 12:00 can be used for repairwork on the same day. As a result, repair-related downtimes and the related costs can beminimised.

“Improving our services to customers is a central component of TNT’s Outlook strategy. We aredetermined to continuously increase the reach and efficiency of our international express deliveryservice in Europe, starting with Germany as our number one destination,” Ian Clough, ManagingDirector, TNT International Europe, said.

The upgrade builds on several operational improvements made by TNT in recent months, includinginvestments in its European Road Network and air hub in Liege, Belgium. In November 2014, TNT begana new daily overnight flight between Liege and Hanover. Other network upgrades, such as changes toroad delivery operations, depot connectivity and operational processes were also implemented acrossGermany.
