PostNL is supporting last-minute Christmas shopping with the launch of same evening deliveriesin Amsterdam for online orders from selected local shops.
The postal group is expanding its cooperation with ‘9straatjesonline.com’, a shopping websitefeaturing some 30 boutiques located in the popular ‘9 straatjes’ (9 streets) area of centralAmsterdam. PostNL and 9straatjesonline.com launched their cooperation earlier this year with asame-day delivery service.
Residents of Amsterdam and surrounding areas who place orders on www.9straatjesonline.com by 5:30 pm can now receivetheir goods on the same evening. PostNL’s subsidiary Valid Express will carry out the deliverybetween 6:00 and 9:00 pm.
The courier service picks up the parcel from one of the shops in De 9 straatjes and thendelivers it to the desired address in Amsterdam. Small parcels will be brought by bicycle.
“The unique aspect of this online shop is that the platform includes over 30 local retailers.The stock is supplied by the shops themselves, minimising the distance between pick-ups anddeliveries,” PostNL explained.
