DHL launches new parcel products

DHL Parcel Germany is launching a new shipping solution for small packages up to 1kg this week,in time for the pre-Christmas season, and is modifying the whole shipping portfolio for private

customers to come into effect next year.

The new ‘DHL Päckchen’ – small parcel – is particularly suitable for Christmas presents and willbe available from November 15 under the category DHL Online Franking at an affordable price of€3.79. From January next year, it will also be also available at all Deutsche Post retail outletsand DHL parcel shops for €3.95.

With the start of the new year, DHL Parcel is also modifying the other product categories forprivate customers and adjusting the prices. Along with the small parcel weighing up to 1 kg, thecompany will introduce another new weight class for parcels up to 5 kg while the weight class up to20 kg will be discontinued. The existing 2kg “Päckchen” will cost €4.29 online instead of theprevious €3.99 and €4.40 at the retail outlet instead of €4.10. The new 5kg parcel will cost €5.99if purchased online using online franking and €6.99 if purchased at a retail outlet.

Parcels up to 10 kg can be shipped starting at a price of €7.49 while heavier items up to 31.5kg will cost from €13.99.

Overall, DHL Parcels will be offering six parcels and small parcels formats for privatecustomers from next year onwards.

Until the end of the year, which concerns this year’s Christmas gifts, prices and weight classesfor private customers will not change, except for the 1 kg online parcel.

DHL stressed that customers can hand in their parcels at any postal retail outlet operated bythe Postbank until 10am on 23 December and until 6pm on 22 December at all the other postal outletsand DHL parcel shops to ensure they arrive on time for Christmas Eve.
