FedEx Express is adding 31 origin countries to its ‘International First’ premium time-definiteservice, expanding the total number of origin markets to 97.
The new origin countries are mostly located in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Depending onorigin and destination, FedEx International First shipments arrive within one to three businessdays, often at the start of the business day.
With a maximum shipment weight of 68 kilogrammes, the service is most often used for businessdocuments, electronic and high tech equipment, medical devices, clinical trials “and gear for theentertainment industry – shipments that require delivery on a tight deadline”, FedEx said.
Commenting on the benefits to customers in Asia, David Cunningham, president for FedExExpress Asia Pacific, said: “This latest FedEx International First expansion highlights the FedExcommitment to delivering an outstanding customer experience by serving our customers in the regionwho need time-sensitive, customs-cleared, door-to-door services.
“Our large customer base can now benefit from the service in China, Indonesia, Korea,Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The expansion also aligns with our global growthstrategy and the need to stay ahead of customer demand.”
The other new countries on the list are: Austria; Bahrain; Belize; Bolivia; Czech Republic;Denmark; Ecuador; El Salvador; Finland; French Guiana; Guyana; Honduras; Hungary; India; Kuwait;Nicaragua; Norway; Paraguay; Peru; Portugal; Poland; Suriname; Sweden; and United Arab Emirates.
FedEx defines its International First service as a time-definite, customs-cleared,door-to-door express service with a pre-defined delivery commitment for shipments up to 150 lbs/68kgs per package. It said customers received International First deliveries as early as 8 am in theUnited States, 9 am in Europe, and 10 am in Asia, Canada and Latin America.
