UPS has officially opened its newly expanded hub at Incheon International Airport in preparationfor continuing trade growth between Korea and key markets around the world.
Situated within the airport’s Cargo Terminal Area, the newly expanded hub occupies more than9,000sqm, an increase in size of more than 60%. UPS said the increased capacity would allow thecompany to increase its import, export and transhipment capability by around 50%.
Claiming to set new standards in Korea, the expanded hub is equipped with new technologies andinfrastructure, which is intended to strengthen UPS’s capability to support Korean businesses thatare looking to expand trade with key growth markets.
“As one of the first global logistics providers in Korea to operate on the new Auto SortingSystem, the number of shipment inspection delays is expected to be reduced,” the company said. “Andwith a new Cargo X-ray System in place, UPS is now able to handle bulky or palletised shipments,further reducing potential handling delays.”

UPS said the expansion of the hub was part of UPS’s long-term commitment towards building anextensive and integrated logistics network across Asia Pacific. Connecting Korea to key marketswithin Asia and to Europe and the United States, the hub operates 80 weekly flights.
