GO! builds new facility in Munich and obtains licence for animal transport in Austria

German express delivery operator GO! Express & Logistics has celebrated the roofing ceremonyfor its new facility in Munich while its Austrian subsidiary GO! Austria was licensed as the first

company in the country’s CEP industry to transport animals.

The construction of the new facility in Munich with premises covering around 3,500 sqm startedin March this year. The main building of the Munich station is now almost completed. The storageand sorting facilities are also taking shape so the company plans to move to the new premises atthe end of the year.

“We are glad that everything is going as planned and the construction is taking place accordingto current environmental standards. The roofing ceremony is an important step towards relocationwhich all our employees and couriers looking forward to,” Rüdiger Neumann, head of GO! Express& Logistics Munich, said.

Separately, GO! Austria was granted a licence to transport animals throughout Austria as well asto and from Germany. The company’s partners have now received the official licence certificatesfrom their local veterinary authorities and are therefore officially authorised to transport liveanimals.

GO! Austria claimed animal transport represents one of the most demanding challenges for expressand courier service providers. It explained that shipments with reptiles, amphibians, ornamentaland aquarium fish, and invertebrates like spiders, shellfish and butterflies are subject to legalrequirements and various guidelines laid down by regional veterinary authorities. GO! Austria hasmet all of these requirements, with all of its employees having received extensive training inorder processing, customer service, dispatch, clearance and delivery of such shipments.

“We are delighted to have successfully obtained the licence, meaning we can now offer ourcustomers the best possible animal shipping service in compliance with all the relevant legalrequirements,” Holger Meyer, Director of Operations and Quality Management at GO! Austria,added.

The company highlighted the importance of packaging when it comes to animal transport, withcompanies having to comply with a range of guidelines for every type of animal. The packaging needsto be shock-resistant and escape-proof while sufficient ventilation and weather protection ofanimals need to be ensured. GO! guarantees short delivery times with overnight shipping from Mondayto Thursday.
