GLS Germany is expanding the geographical coverage of its evening and Saturday deliverieslaunched as part of the FlexDelivery service earlier this year, with two more cities.
Initially introduced in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf in May this year, the evening and Saturdaydeliveries have now been expanded to Cologne and Nuremberg as the service has proved successful, with recipients choosing the new delivery options for around 6% of re-directed parcels.
As part of the new delivery options, consumers living in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf, and now inCologne and Nuremberg areas, can choose delivery in the evening or on a Saturday. The time windowfor the evening deliveries is set between 5-8 pm. On Saturdays, GLS will deliver between 8 am and1pm. If the first delivery attempt fails, the recipients can still choose the new delivery optionsagain through parcel redirection via the company’s website gls-group.eu.
“With evening and Saturday deliveries, we have complemented the FlexDelivery service by otherattractive delivery options,” Klaus Conrad, Managing Director, GLS Germany, said. He added thatevening deliveries are especially popular. “The more diverse the alternatives, the better receivingonline orders can be integrated in the daily routine – this is what consumers want.”
Since launching FlexDelivery in September 2012, GLS Germany has been informing recipients aboutthe expected delivery time and the expected delivery time window, with various delivery options tochoose from. For example, recipients can choose to change the delivery day and address, fixdelivery to a GLS parcel shop but also grant a signature release authorisation so GLS deliverystaff can leave the parcel at an agreed location – for example, in a garage or another location ator close to the delivery address.
