InPost continues Asian expansion with first 140 parcel terminals in Malaysia

Fast-growing InPost is launching the first parcel terminals in Malaysia in cooperation with theleading national courier firm Skynet and fast-growing ISIS Logistic which will serve e-stores and

e-commerce platforms.

The first 140 machines are due to be rolled out across Klang Valley, the metropolitan area ofMalaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, by the end of this year, with the aim to extend the network to 350terminals in 2016. The machines will be available in such locations as shopping malls, universitiesand residential areas/compounds.

The rollout will start at PETRONAS Stations’ Kedai Mesra and at Tesco hypermarkets in KualaLumpur, with consumers being able to collect their online purchases round the clock from theconvenient locations from November onwards this year.

InPost Malaysia will be supported by a local partner, Impressive Communications Sdn. Bhd., whichis an experienced IT solutions integrator.

Takentogether, Malaysia and Singapore generate almost 50% of e-commerce sales in South East Asia despitebarely representing 8% of its total population. Malaysia and the region represent a vital part withregard to the expansion of our international parcel locker network,” InPost CEO Rafal Brzoskasaid.

Christian Secci, Managing Director at InPost Malaysia, added that all major Malaysiane-retailers are waiting to integrate the InPost network into their delivery options, with primarypartnerships having been finalised.

“Cooperation with InPost Malaysia will extend our offering to include innovative forms ofproduct delivery, this is essential in a dynamically expanding market like e-commerce. InPostparcel lockers will enable us to optimise the cost of delivery, especially for larger volumeorders,” Teo Bee Yap, Skynet Executive Director, commented.

With the launch of the parcel lockers in Malaysia, InPost is continuing its network expansion inAsia and the Middle East North Africa (MENA) regions, following the implementation of the machinesin many European markets, and its home market Poland in particular. In Hong Kong, it hasestablished a partnership with a leading Asian courier company CX Courier Ltd to implement 300terminals in the country by the end of 2016. The first terminals will be available in the fourthquarter of 2014 and 150 are planned to be launched in next year. In the MENA region, InPostrecently announced a joint venture with Aramex to offer the access to the terminals to consumersacross the region for all their e-commerce activities.

Meanwhile, the InPost parcel terminal network comprises 21 countries. These include SaudiArabia, Australia, Chile, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, France, Latvia, Lithuania,Ukraine, Estonia, Poland, Russia, Cyprus, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Columbia, Costa Rica, ElSalvador and Guatemala. Over 3,500 parcel lockers based on InPost’s technology are currentlyinstalled worldwide.
