FedEx has enhanced its service portfolio with an improved SenseAware device fortemperature-controlled monitoring, a temperature study and consultation service, and an advanced
shipping label generator.With the addition of a cryogenic probe for its SenseAware 2000 device, customers can monitorshipments that require a specific temperature, from -195°C to +60°C (-319°F to +140°F), in nearreal-time. The tool consists of a multi-sensor device working with a powerful web-based applicationtransmitting data from inside packages through wireless communication. It can provide nearreal-time monitoring of temperature, relative humidity, shock, barometric pressure and lightdetection.
The enhancement gives customers peace-of-mind when shipping highly sensitive goods. They can usethe application to create customised alerts and receive notifications of changes during theshipping process, FedEx said.
“The cryogenic probe for the SenseAware 2000 device is a game-changer, especially for our lifesciences customers,” Chris Swearingen, marketing manager for SenseAware, said. “Customers who shiplifesaving vaccines or critical lab tests need to know that their shipments remain cryogenicallyfrozen throughout their journeys.”
SenseAware can work in conjunction with FedEx Priority Alert to offer additional interventioncapabilities, providing an extra layer of visibility and security.
To improve the quality of customers’ temperature-control supply chain, FedEx Custom Critical haslaunched a new service ‘Temp-Assure Shipping Studies’ combining research, evaluation andrecommendations related to specific shipping methods and lanes.
The Temp-Assure Shipping Study examines various aspects of a customer’s cold-chain which caninclude shipping lane, packaging configuration and/or container choice. This extensive researchresults in recommendations on new shipping options or enhancements to the customer’s current plans.It can help improve quality and meet the customer’s compliance standards on particular shippinglanes, packaging methods or other aspects of their temperature-control shipping process. The newconsultative service is available for the USA and international shipping.
Meanwhile, in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, FedEx Express has launched FedEx Quick Form, anonline tool that allows customers to generate a shipping label in just a few clicks. They can saveprevious shipping information to be used for subsequent shipments, speeding up repetitive AirWaybill preparation. Compared with handwritten Air Waybills, the tool thus improves accuracy andefficiency of data entry. Shipment labels can be printed directly from a computer to affix to eachshipment. FedEx Quick Form is available in 10 regional markets including Australia, China, HongKong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
